INDEPENDENT LIVING PROGRAM
HOUSING
Budgeting, basic household maintenance and repairs are taught. When appropriate, looking for an affordable place to live. Financial planning, budgeting, credit building and maintenance and how to cook nutritious meals are emphasized. Assessments are used to chart the client's progress.
EDUCATION
Preparation and maintenance of client's educational goals through career assessments, assistance with financial aid, etc.
EMPLOYMENT
Training with resume writing, completing emploument applications, interviewing techniques.

ELIGIBILITY, ENROLLMENT & COSTS
Harambee Corporation's Independent Living Program is designed for males and females, ages 16-23. Harambee began the program to provide housing for homeless teens lacking a safe or stable environment . The Independent Living Program provides the basic needs of housing, food, safety and financial security by helping teens save money for the future while they develop and learn the basic independent life skills necessary to be independent and lead productive lives.
​Participation in the program is voluntary and the services are provided at no cost. Teens must be between the ages of 16 and 23 to be eligible for the independent living program. The Program Director or Case Manager will hold an assessment interview with teens interested in participation in the program.
PROGRAM INFO
Learning to navigate public transportation, learning basic automobile maintenance and repairs. Modifying expenses and fincially preparing for transportation expenses.
TRANSPORTATION

Relationship building with emphasis on healthy living lifestyle which includes nutrition, exercise, self-esteem building and identifying personal gidts and talents through workshops, hands on experience and assessments.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Informational groups and outings that teach various facets of different cultures by offering hands-on cultural experiences including museum visits, movies, and other outings.
CULTURAL AWARENESS

Faith-based or spiritual activity on Sundays.
